Álfheiður Ingadóttir

Álfheiður Ingadóttir (born May 1, 1951 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( left-green movement ).

Álfheiður, who has a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Iceland and studied German and media studies at the Free University of Berlin , has worked as a journalist for many years since 1977, initially for the left-leaning newspaper Þjóðviljinn until 1987 . From 1997 to 2007 she was head of publications at the Icelandic Institute for Natural History ( Náttúrufræðistofnun Íslands ), and from 1997 to 2006 she was also editor-in-chief of the journal Náttúrufræðingurinn , published by the Natural History Society of Iceland ( Hið íslenska náttúrufræðifélagif ).

From 2007 to 2013 she was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing , first for the constituency of Reykjavík-South , since 2009 for the constituency of Reykjavík-North . From October 1, 2009 to September 2, 2010 she was Minister of Health.
