Álvaro Flórez Estrada
Don Álvaro Flórez Estrada (* 1769 in Pola de Somiedo , Asturias ; † 1853 in Noreña , Asturias) was a Spanish economist .
Flórez Estrada studied law and was promoted to General Procurator of the Province of Asturias in 1808 . As a patriot, he rejected Napoléon Bonaparte and his politics. This political activity brought u. a. the office of a deputy and later that of a senator; for the latter, Estrada was chosen for life.
He openly defended the national rights against the returned King Ferdinand VII in his Representacion à Fernando VII. This work was translated into almost all European languages and made Estrada known throughout Europe. When Spain found its way back to the monarchy after the coup d'état of January 1, 1820 , Estrada edited the opposition paper El tribuno del pueblo, which appeared in Cádiz . Political events forced Estrada, who belonged to the secret society of the Comuneros , into exile in France in 1823 , where he also worked as a political writer.
Alvaro Flórez Estrada died in 1853 at the age of about 84.
