Don Álvaro Flórez Estrada (* 1769 in Pola de Somiedo , Asturias ; † 1853 in Noreña , Asturias) was a Spanish economist .

Flórez Estrada studied law and was promoted to General Procurator of the Province of Asturias in 1808 . As a patriot, he rejected Napoléon Bonaparte and his politics. This political activity brought u. a. the office of a deputy and later that of a senator; for the latter, Estrada was chosen for life.

He openly defended the national rights against the returned King Ferdinand VII in his Representacion à Fernando VII. This work was translated into almost all European languages ​​and made Estrada known throughout Europe. When Spain found its way back to the monarchy after the coup d'état of January 1, 1820 , Estrada edited the opposition paper El tribuno del pueblo, which appeared in Cádiz . Political events forced Estrada, who belonged to the secret society of the Comuneros , into exile in France in 1823 , where he also worked as a political writer.

Alvaro Flórez Estrada died in 1853 at the age of about 84.
