The student body at the University of Graz (short ÖH Uni Graz , from the former Austrian student body) is the legal representation of the interests of all students in Austria. All full and extraordinary students at Austrian universities are their members. It is a student body under public law. Every two years, the student representatives are re-elected by the students as part of the ÖH elections.

Each Austrian university has its associated Students' shaft . The ÖH Uni Graz is thus the Austrian student union of the University of Graz (ÖH Uni Graz). It represents around 30,000 students at the University of Graz. With the mandatory payment of the contribution of € 19.70 per semester, every student is a member.

Organizationally, the ÖH Uni Graz is divided into the Federal Representation (BV), University Representation (HV), Faculty Representation (FV) and Student Representation (StV).

As stipulated by law, the ÖH Uni Graz draws its budget on the one hand from the mandatory ÖH fee (€ 19.20 in the 2017/18 academic year), from the income from the summer and winter drinks stand, and from flat-rate contributions to administrative expenses by the university Graz . The income from the summer and winter drinks stand goes directly to the social pot of the ÖH Uni Graz, which supports students in financial emergencies.

Federal representation

The Federal Representation, BV for short, is based in Vienna. She is responsible for representing the interests of the students vis-à-vis the legislature and the federal government. In addition, the BV decides on matters that affect more than one university. It serves as a coordinating body for the individual ÖHs in Austria. The mandataries of the BV are elected by the individual universities and academies in proportion to the strength of the votes of the parliamentary groups in the university representation.

University representation

The University Representation, or HV for short, is the highest body of the “student body” at a university. Your task is to represent the interests of the students towards the respective university. This includes the work in the university committees such as the Senate as well as the provision of a wide range of advisory and service activities (script sales, kindergarten, etc.). The members of the AGM are elected (similar to, for example, the municipal council or the national council) according to a list option. The 19 mandates of the university representatives have been filled as follows since the last election: AG ( action group ): five mandates, FLUG ( student union list Uni Graz): three mandates, GRAS ( Greens & Alternative Students ): five mandates, VSStÖ ( Association of Socialist Students Austria ): three mandates, JUNOS ( Young Liberals ): two mandates, KSV ( Communist Student Association ): one mandate. The current coalition at the ÖH Uni Graz consists of AG (action group), GRAS ( Greens & Alternative Students ) and JUNOS ( Young Liberals ) - the chairman of the university representation is currently Armin Amiryousofi (AG). The department for economic affairs (finance department) is currently headed by Philipp Brüger (GRAS).

In addition to the mandataries, the university representation includes three committees (finance, special projects and educational policy) as well as 15 units of the ÖH Uni Graz.

According to its statutes, the ÖH Uni Graz currently has 15 departments.
