The first German Police classic car museum is a police - Museum in the district Wehrshausen (district Neuhöfe ) the Hessian town of Marburg . The museum shows vehicles from several decades of German police history.

history

The foundation ceremony took place on June 24th, 2000 as part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Police-Motorsport-Club Marburg 1990 e. V. instead. The patron was the Hessian Interior Minister Volker Bouffier . The collection of historic police vehicles was originally a secondary aspect of the club, which was founded in 1990. In 1991, the club acquired an Opel Rekord P1 from the 1950s as the first historic police vehicle . Soon more historic emergency vehicles were added. The official inauguration of the museum took place after renovation work on July 12, 2003. Since then, there have been regular opening dates from April to October, usually on Sundays.

Exhibits

The focus of the museum is on the historic police vehicles of the Marburg Police Motorsport Club. The vehicle collection is now one of the largest in Germany and includes over 80 police vehicles. You can see, for example, police motorcycles , patrol cars , armored special vehicles , water cannons and heavy vehicles from the police force. A floating car is also one of the exhibits. Some of the vehicles have been faithfully reconstructed from several other models.

Other police exhibits, information boards and photos give the visitor an insight into the motorization of the German police since the beginning of the 20th century. The focus of the museum is on the period after the Second World War .

Vehicles from the museum's holdings are also made available for television and film recordings, for example five vehicles in 2007 for the shooting of the movie Der Baader Meinhof Complex .

For the restoration of the ex-film car of the type BMW 501 , known from the police series Funkstreife Isar 12 , the team from the Police Motorsport Club Marburg received the Golden Classic Steering Wheel 2014 for the restoration of the year.
