The 1. FC Nuremberg in women and girls football is a sports club from the Franconian metropolis Nürnberg . The only department is that for women's and girls' soccer . The 1st team plays in the Regionalliga Süd , the 2nd team in the Landesliga Nord and the 3rd team in the District League Middle Franconia.

history

The club was first launched on August 24, 1988 as a women's and girls' soccer department within 1. FC Nürnberg . In the course of the restructuring of the club and the outsourcing of the departments into independent clubs, seven people founded an independent club in the business premises of 1. FC Nürnberg in the spring of 1995.

In the 1990s, the club established itself behind FC Bayern Munich and FC Wacker Munich as the third force in Bavarian women's football. The greatest sporting success in 1999 was promotion to the Bundesliga for the 1999/2000 season , which, however, was followed by immediate relegation from bottom of the table to the Regionalliga Süd .

After two unsuccessful attempts to rise again, the FCN women managed to relegate the reigning champions from the regional league in 2003. After another relegation, the team played in the national league. It was not until 2008 that he was promoted to the Bavarian League, which was followed by the immediate march through to the Regional League. After relegated to the Bayern League in 2011, the team secured the championship one match day before the end of 2013 and has been back in the Regional League since the 2013/14 season.

Girls soccer

The U-17 juniors qualified for the newly introduced B-Juniorinnen-Bundesliga Süd in 2012 and came 4th there in 2013. The U-17-2 juniors compete in the B-Juniorinnen-Bayernliga.
