1000-year-old oak Gollingkreut

The 1000-year-old oak (also called blood oak or simply oak) near the Schrobenhausen district of Gollingkreut in the Upper Bavarian district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen is a pedunculate oak ( Quercus robur ) between 350 and 500 years old and with a circumference of approximately 9.1 meters ( As of 2014) the fourth thickest tree in Bavaria and 22nd place among the thickest trees in Germany. After a storm in 2016, a branch that had already been secured with steel cables broke off, which previously made up a considerable part of the crown. The 1000 year old oak is designated as a natural monument .

Data

The oak is a single tree about 200 m outside the village of Gollingkreut on the country road in the direction of the village of Halsbach. It is 24 meters high and also has a crown diameter of about 24 meters. The waist circumference is 8.65 m. (As of 2017)
