- September 21 : Emperor Valentinian III. kills his general Flavius Aëtius with his own hands.
- In the battle of the Nedao , the Gepids under Ardarich and the peoples of the Skiren, Rugier , Suebi , Heruler and Ostrogoths allied with them succeed in finally driving the remains of the Huns under Attila's son Ellac and his brothers out of Hungary. 30,000 Huns, including Ellac, are killed. The Ostrogoths under Walamar and Theodemir are settled to the right of the Danube in the Eastern Roman Empire .
- The Kingdom of Burgundy , whose capital is Geneva , extends to Lyon and Vienne .
