- March 27th : Fall of the Roman Empire : Suebi conquer the Galician city of Lugo , whose commander is killed.
- The Roman fleet lying in Portus Ilicantus , today's Santa Pola , is destroyed by vandals from North Africa in the battle of Cartagena . The destruction of the invasion fleet not only makes the planned landing of the Romans in North Africa and the then necessary supply of landed invasion troops impossible, it also permanently demoralizes Majorian's army. Without a navy, Rome is no longer able to protect the Italian, Gallic and Hispanic coasts from further attacks by the Vandals.
