ASCII Media Works ( Japanese ア ス キ ー ・ メ デ ィ ア ワ ー ク ス Asukī Media Wākusu ) is an imprint for books , mangas , video games and magazines from the Japanese publisher Kadokawa .

history

The company KK ASCII Media Works ( 株式会社 ア ス キ ー ・ メ デ ィ ア ワ ー ク ス Kabushiki kaisha Asukī Media Wākusu , English ASCII Media Works, Inc. ) was created on April 1, 2008 from the merger of the subculture publisher Media Works with the IT publisher ASCII . The company's president was Kiyoshi Takano, who previously headed ASCII.

In 2013, the parent company, Kadokawa Group Holdings, was renamed Kadokawa and on October 1, 2013, the group's eight publishers, including ASCII Media Works, were dissolved as independent companies and continued as Kadokawa brands (Imprints).

The publisher sells a number of magazines and books under the name Dengeki ( 電 撃 ), such as the manga magazine Dengeki Daioh , the games magazine Dengeki G's Magazine and the imprint Dengeki Bunko . The company also publishes magazines on IT topics, light novels , computer games, sells toy characters and is involved in the production of animes .
