ASPTT Albi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association Sportive de La Poste et France Télécom Albi or ASPTT Albi for short is a sports club from Albi , the prefectural seat of the French department of Tarn . The post sports club has gained national importance through its women soccer players, with whom this article mainly deals.

history

The founding year cannot yet be determined either for the club as a whole or for the women's football department; the latter apparently only appeared shortly before the turn of the millennium. Originally this post sports club - like its numerous counterparts in other cities in France - was called Association Sportive des Postes, Télégraphes et Téléphones or ASPTT for short. At least this abbreviation is still used by the club and national association in the present, although the French post office has long since changed its name.

The ASPTT benefited from the fact that well- known female soccer players - often at the end of their careers - came to Albi from the strong, neighboring clubs from Toulouse ( TOAC and TFC ) (see below under well- known players ).

The club colors are red and yellow. The league eleven play their home games at the Stade Maurice Rigaud , which has a spectator capacity of around 3,000 seats.

League affiliation and achievements

In the second division , the ASPTT Albi was represented for the first time in the 2000/01 season; after only a year she got out of it again. In 2007 she returned to the second women's division and stayed in it until 2014 when she was promoted to the top French division . Their group victory was already clear several game days before the end of the season. At the end of the 2017/18 season , the first women in the ASPTT had to go to the second division after four seasons in the “footballing upper house”.

In the national cup competition , the women from Albi regularly reached the national main round from 2005/06 with one exception (2009/10). Her greatest success so far in this was reaching the round of 16 in 2005/06 ; They have also reached the round of the last 32 teams five times, most recently in 2013 and 2014.
