Aarne Michaël Tallgren (born February 8, 1885 in Ruovesi ; died April 13, 1945 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish prehistorian .

Tallgren was a professor at the University of Tartu from 1920 to 1923 , and in 1923 he moved to the University of Helsinki . His specialty was the Bronze Age and Early Iron Age in Eastern Europe . He took part in archaeological excavations in different parts of Russia. In 1926 he became a member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences . From 1926 to 1938 he edited the journal Eurasia Septentrionalis Antigua published by the Archaeological Society of Finland .
