The Academia de Artes (AA; German : Akademie der Künste ) is a Mexican art history institution based in the Museo Nacional de San Carlos , Mexico City .
The Academy was founded on the basis of a presidential decree of December 12, 1966, and work began in 1967/1968. The aim is to recognize merits for Mexican culture, to promote individual work and to provide scientific advice in the service of the country. Numerous well-known representatives of the various art movements, art historians and art critics of the country belong to the academy.
