Ace of Spades is a open-World- and first-person shooter - game for Windows and Mac OS X . It was originally developed by Ben Aksoy and released as freeware in 2011 . In December 2012, the game was taken over by Jagex and converted into a paid product that is distributed via the Steam distribution platform . Some big changes have been made in the game, which have met with criticism from the community. The old, free version ( Classic Version ) is still playable and popular. With OpenSpades there is an open source clone of the Classic version .
