Achim Vandreike

Joachim Vandreike (born March 2, 1948 in Büdingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and manager .

Political career

After completing his administrative training and working for the city of Frankfurt am Main and as a student at the Academy of Labor at the University of Frankfurt am Main, Vandreike began his political career as a member of the staff council in the school office , after which he became chairman of the (general) staff council of City administration of Frankfurt elected. He from 1991 to 2006 member of the council of the city of Frankfurt am Main , most recently as Mayor (Deputy Mayor or the Mayor) and sport and housing department head . For the SPD, he ran against the incumbent Petra Roth in the 2001 mayoral election . In the direct election , in which Vandreike even allowed the then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to attend, he achieved 34.6%. In the runoff election that followed, he narrowly missed the highest office in the city with 47%.

As the head of the sports department, he is responsible for the renovation of the Waldstadion . In the summer of 2004, the controversial operator contract he had prepared for the Waldstadion was implemented with the votes of the CDU and SPD. On May 18, 2006, the city council decided in the first and on June 22, 2006 in the second ballot (with the votes of the CDU, the Greens and the FDP) the possible early dismissal of the SPD members (city councilors) (according to the Hessian municipal code) .

Supervisory board mandates

Achim Vandreike is a member of the supervisory board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG . He resigned his mandate on the supervisory board of FSV Frankfurt 1899 eV in 2008 because it violated the DFL guidelines .
