Achter Tag is the fourth album by the German hip-hop duo Genetikk . It was released on May 8, 2015 on the German hip-hop label Selfmade Records .
background
After the duo Genetikk, consisting of Sikk and Karuzo, celebrated their first commercial successes with the release of the album DNA in 2013, they expanded the group by five more members who take care of all areas of responsibility for the Genetikk brand. Hell and Rokey, for example, are responsible for the visual aspects such as artworks, press photos and the HIKIDS clothing brand . Rizmo acts as a manager and tour DJ. In addition, Chiko and Mojo belong to the group. As a meeting point for collaboration, they founded the Studio Factory in Saarbrücken. This is based in particular on the Atelier The Factory of the pop-art artist Andy Warhol .
Most of the work on Eighth Day was done in the factory . Studios in Berlin and Amsterdam were used for the actual recordings. At the beginning of February 2015, Selfmade Records announced the release of the album. According to Managing Director Elvir Omerbegovic , the motto is “ to further develop the ' DNA ' sound in terms of both content and music. “The album title Eighth Day was announced in mid-February . In addition, April 24, 2015 was set as the publication date. This was later postponed to May 8, 2015.

At the beginning of March 2015, the split video for the songs Achter Tag and Dago was the first visual implementation of the album. This was created under the direction of Markus and Michael Weicker from The Factory. A month later, the video Wünsch dir was followed . Joern Heitmann was responsible for this as director. The third video was Caput Mundis, directed by Oliver Würffell . In addition to the video publications, the piece Jungs ausm Barrio , which was created in collaboration with SSIO, was released free of charge on the YouTube video portal . In addition, a snippet was published at the beginning of May in which the pieces from the album are presented in extracts. On May 18, Genetikk presented the piece Wünsch dir was in the late-night show Circus HalliGalli .

Eighth day rose to number 1 in the German album charts. This makes it the second album by the duo after DNA that was able to achieve the highest ranking in Germany. It is also the sixth number one album in a row for Selfmade Records . According to Elvir Omerbegovic, President of Rap Selfmade Records and Universal Music Germany, 60,000 units of Achter Tag were sold in the first week of sales . This means that sales in the first week could be doubled compared to the previous album. In Austria and Switzerland, Achter Tag was also able to occupy position 1 on the album charts.
The single Wünsch dir was positioned at number 37 in the German charts. In Austria the piece reached number 53 in the singles charts.
criticism
The e-zine Laut.de rated Achter Tag with three out of a possible five points. According to the editor Dani Fromm, the publication “ shouldn't have an overly long half-life. “Karuzo rap“ even with the accelerator pedal depressed ”, but due to the“ lack of variety in his performance ”it sounds “ damn monotonous over the length of the album ” . In terms of content, Karuzo changes seamlessly from grandiose arrogance to harmonious charity. “The guest contributions by Sido and Max Herre are also criticized negatively.
