Adé Bantu (born July 13, 1971 in Wembley , London ; real name Adegoke Odukoya ) is a German - Nigerian musician , music producer and activist . 2001 Bantu became known with his project Brothers Keepers and the single Adriano (Last Warning) . On his initiative, Afro-German hip-hop and soul artists came together for a statement against racism in Germany. After the release of his debut album Bantu (2004), which included the Senegalese hip-hop veterans PBS, the album Fuji Satisfaction was released in 2005 , for which he received the ' Kora Award 2005'.

biography

Adé Bantu was born to a German mother and a Nigerian father in Wembley London. In 1973 he moved to Nigeria with his parents. After the death of his father in 1986, Bantu came to Germany with his mother and three siblings. Bantu has been campaigning against right-wing extremism and racism in Germany for many years . For this purpose he founded the Brothers Keepers association together with other musicians in order to raise awareness of the still dangerous situation for Germans with a migration background. For him, racism is still omnipresent in Germany and with his commitment he would like to support small associations that are active locally.

Documentary film

At the beginning of February 2007, the documentary “Yes I Am” was released in some German cinemas, in which Adé Bantu is portrayed alongside D-Flame and Mamadee . The film shows the path taken by the Afro-German artists born in Germany and the circumstances with which they are and were confronted due to the color of their skin.
