Adérito de Jesus Soares is an East Timorese politician and a member of the Partidu Libertasaun Popular (PLP).

In the 1990s, Soares was a member of the eight-member presidium of the student resistance movement RENETIL during the Indonesian occupation . Soares worked as a lawyer on the new East Timorese constitution . In the elections on August 30, 2001 , Soares moved into the constituent assembly for FRETILIN in 11th place on the list , but did not stay in the East Timorese national parliament until the end of the 2007 legislative period.

From 2010 to 2014 he was Commissioner of the Comissão Anti-Corrupção (CAC). In December 2015, Soares became interim chairman of the PLP, which that month submitted its official registration to the Tribunal de Recurso de Timor-Leste , the country's highest court. At the time he was living in Australia to complete his doctorate on the relationship between human rights and development. This should be ready in March or April 2016.

From 2015 to 2017 Soares was interim chairman of the newly founded PLP. After Taur Matan Ruak was allowed to take over a party office again after the end of his term as president , he was elected as the new party leader on May 20, 2017. Soares is now chairman of the party's National Political Council (KPN).
