Adolphe Joanne
Adolphe Joanne (born September 15, 1813 in Dijon , † March 1, 1881 in Paris ) was a French geographic writer .
Adolphe Joanne became a lawyer in Paris in 1836 , but soon turned to journalism. A trip to Switzerland and the Black Forest prompted him to write a travel guide in 1841, which became the starting point for a whole series of similar and in some cases extensive works that not only cover the most interesting places and landscapes in France, but also Germany, England and Switzerland , Orient stretch and were often launched.
A compact excerpt from the larger travel books appeared since 1866 under the title: Guides Diamant . In addition, Joanne published the geographic dictionary Dictionnaire géographique de la France in Paris .
