Athletic career
Adriano Malori won the 2006 Italian time trial champion in the junior class, second in the road race and at the European Championships in Valkenburg , he won the bronze medal in the time trial. In the 2007 season he moved to the U23 class, where he was the Italian time trial champion in 2007 and 2008 and again won the bronze medal at the European Championships. At the U23 World Championships in Stuttgart in 2007 , Malori finished fifth in the time trial. At the U23 World Championships in 2008 in Varese , Italy , Malori was able to win the time trial competition.
Malori also achieved his greatest successes in individual time trials with the elite. In 2011, 2014 and 2015 he became the Italian elite champion in this discipline. He represented his country several times at road world championships in the elite time trial and was runner-up in 2015 . At the Vuelta a España 2014 , he won the final time trial and thus his only stage win in a Grand Tour . He also won numerous time trials in international stage races and the Chrono Champenois . His first and only victory in an international stage race was at the Bayern Rundfahrt 2013 , where he also achieved a stage success in the individual time trial. As the last in the overall ranking of the Tour de France 2010 , Malori "carried" the red lantern .
At the Tour de San Luis in January 2016, Malori suffered severe head injuries in a fall on the fifth stage and had to be put into an artificial coma . Road damage was to blame for the fall. Malori's accident resulted in a mass crash of six other drivers. It was only four weeks after the fall that Malori's condition improved so that he could be transported to Spain for further treatment. After his comeback was unsuccessful, he announced his retirement as an active player and the intention to start training as a coach in July 2017.
