Aeneatores

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The aeneatores were the military musicians of the Roman army . They included the tubicines ( tuba blowers ), the cornicines (horn blowers) and the bucinatores (trumpeters). They were responsible for sending orders.

The term is documented, for example, in Frontinus (1st century) or Ammianus Marcellinus (4th century). So far, only one document is known to be inscribed.

The civil Collegia aeneatorum must be distinguished from this .
