Aesthetic Death Records is an independent label founded in 1992 .

history

The Worcestershire-based label was founded in 1992 as a distributor. Since 1994 the label has been relocating extreme and doom metal bands, although only a few albums were released in the first few years. The label's first own products were releases by the Esoteric and Fleurety groups . The esoteric musician Greg Chandler also got involved in many of the label's releases as a sound engineer and mastered various albums that were released through the label. Side projects by esoteric musicians also appeared, such as Lysergene by Gordon Bicknell and the Dead Beat Project by Olivier Goyet, via Aesthetic Death.

From the second half of the 2000s Gregg intensified Aesthetic Death's activities as a label. With the releases since then, the label has gained a positive reputation with fans of extreme Doom Metal. The publications of Goatpsalm and Black Depths Gray Waves , which are more post-industrial , in particular Death Industrial , did not convince the metal press reviewers and were occasionally judged as incomprehensible, derogatory.

philosophy

From the beginning Gregg ran the label alone. He admitted that he had a preference for music that was “slow, heavy” and “dark”. He's looking for dark, introverted, serious and thoughtful music. He does not choose the bands that he relocates on the basis of their popularity or optional sales opportunities, but on the basis of personal ties.
