The Africa Festival Nuremberg is an annual open-air event in Nuremberg with African culture and music.

The festival

The free festival has been taking place under the patronage of the city of Nuremberg on four days on a weekend in June under and next to the Theodor-Heuss-Brücke in Nuremberg on the Westring on the meadow in the Pegnitztal- West landscape protection area since 2009 . Tens of thousands of visitors come every year. In 2018 the 9th edition of the event took place, which aims to convey "... the value of African culture". The organizer is the Afrika Festival Nürnberg eV The 2019 festival was canceled at short notice, solutions for a continuation are being sought.

The city of Nuremberg only provides the site as well as a drinking and sewage connection. The electricity required must be generated on site with generators. The festival finances itself and the artists' fees exclusively from drinks sales and donations. In addition, stand fees are charged from the exhibitors in the Africa market and the catering providers, which largely cover the expenses for the technical equipment. Any surplus should be used for charitable projects in Africa.

The annual bridge festival and the artificial turf festival also take place at the same location .
