Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock (2006).

Air Supply is an Australian pop - band .

history

The two main members Russell Hitchcock (born June 15, 1949 in Melbourne , Australia) and Graham Russell (born June 1, 1950 in Nottingham , Great Britain ) played in a production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar and released their first single in 1976 in Australia . Success began when they opened for Rod Stewart in 1977 . From 1980 to 1986 they achieved over ten hits in the USA alone , including three million-seller . Some of the songs were written and produced by Jim Steinman in his typical sound.

In 1988 the singers separated. They reunited in 1991 and released the album The Earth Is . The band exists to this day and regularly releases new albums, but was unable to build on the success of the early 1980s.

In 2013 Air Supply were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame .
