Meticulousness
Under meticulousness (from Greek ακριβης , exact) refers to an extreme care , greatest accuracy up to the embarrassing accuracy. The term is often used to denote a certain type of scientific or literary activity in which the elaboration of prerequisites and contexts occupies a large space.
In "Krug's encyclopaedic-philosophical lexicon" (1832) meticulousness is "scientific accuracy or diligence in research or investigation - a main condition for successful success in working on the sciences, especially philosophy; where it often takes place least, because many consider philosophizing to be so easy. ”This meticulousness should also be associated with the careful selection of the words to denote the concepts, the accuracy in speaking and writing. "Meticulousness with regard to the law often means too strict adherence to or insistence on one's rights, with neglect of all equity."
The virtues of meticulousness, care and accuracy can, depending on the design and the viewer, be seen on the verge of pedantry .
In Orthodoxy , meticulousness describes the entire authentic church tradition as well as its exact and faithful observance, preservation and application. However, the moral doctrine of Orthodoxy rests on a second principle: In addition to the meticulousness, according to which all commandments must be conscientiously obeyed, there is the oikonomie (also economics), which allows temporary deviations.
