Alain-Philippe Segonds

Alain-Philippe Segonds (born August 1, 1942 - May 2, 2011 ) was a French classical philologist , historian of philosophy and science and a publisher .

Segonds studied Classical Philology from 1962 to 1965 at the Sorbonne University in Paris and then at the École Pratique des Hautes Études , where, among other things, he heard the last lecture by Alexandre Koyré and attended seminars on ancient philosophy with André-Jean Festugière . In the following years he has mainly worked as a translator of works on the history of philosophy, among others by Proklos and Porphyrios as well as Johannes Kepler and Nikolaus Kopernikus . Segonds worked as a chercheur at the Center National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and as a publishing director at Les Belles Lettres . A commemorative publication was published under the title Omnia in uno (Paris 2012).
