Alanna Kraus (born June 30, 1977 in Abbotsford ) is a former Canadian short tracker . She won two medals at the Olympic Games and numerous medals at world championships , including a world championship title.

Kraus came to speed skating and short track at the age of four . In 1998 she was accepted into the national team and trained under Jonathon Cavar at the performance center in Calgary . In November 1999 she made her debut in the World Cup. In her second World Cup, she reached the semifinals for the first time over 500 m and 1000 m. At the 2000 World Cup in Sheffield , Kraus won the bronze medal with the relay. In the following season she could also win bronze at the team world championship in Minamiaiki . In the World Cup, she achieved over 500 m and her first podium in the relay.

In the 2001/02 season Kraus won their first World Cup race with the relay. At the World Championships in Montreal and World Team Championships in Milwaukee , she again won a bronze medal. She qualified for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City . There she reached sixth place over 500 m, eighth over 1000 m and fifth over 1500 m. In the season she won the bronze medal.

The 2002/03 World Cup season was Kraus' most successful. She reached a total of six podium places, including a victory with the relay and a second place over 500 m. She was sixth in the overall world cup, second in the discipline world cup over 1000 m and third over 500 m. By winning the silver medal in the relay, she also successfully concluded the season at the World Cup in Warsaw . Her only international medal in an individual race was won by Kraus at the 2004 World Championships in Gothenburg . She was third over 1500 m. At the team world championship 2004 in Saint Petersburg she was also fourth in the final. Another year later she won her only world title at the World Championships in Beijing . She won the season title. She was also successful at the team world championship in Chuncheon by winning the bronze medal.

The 2005/06 Olympic season was another successful one for Kraus. In the World Cup she took three podium places in the relay. Also in the season she won silver at the World Championships in Minneapolis , and at the Team World Championships in Montreal , she and her teammates won bronze. She started at the Olympic Games in Turin and also won a medal in the relay on her second participation, this time silver. She also came ninth over 500 m. Due to injury, she missed the entire following season and was then unable to qualify for World Cup races and international championships within the Canadian team. In 2008 she ended her active career.
