The Alberca Olímpica Francisco Márquez is a swimming pool in Mexico City . It was the venue for the swimming , diving , water polo and swimming competitions of the modern pentathlon at the 1968 Summer Olympics . The Olympic Village is about ten kilometers from the swimming stadium. The hall offers space for 5,000 spectators, with 5,000 temporary seats being created for the Olympic competitions. The swimming pool is 50 meters long, 21 meters wide and 1.8 meters deep. Windows below the waterline allowed photographers and television cameras to take pictures of the swimmers below the waterline. There is also a 30 by 20 meter warm-up pool. The diving tower has platforms three, six and a half and ten meters high.

After the Olympic Games, the swimming pool was used for other major events.
