Albert Ostermaier

Albert Ostermaier (born November 30, 1967 in Munich ) is a German writer .

Life

Ostermaier initially studied architecture and law for a short time and then modern German literature with the minor subjects Medieval Studies and Folklore at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1988 he published the first volume of poetry Denial of the compass direction . In 1990 he received the Munich Literature Scholarship. With the world premiere of the first play Between Two Fires. In 1995 he had his breakthrough as a playwright at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. He was in-house author at the Nationaltheater Mannheim from 1996 to 1997, at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich from 1999 to 2000 and at the Burgtheater Vienna from 2003 to 2009. The numerous plays were staged by renowned directors including Andrea Breth , Matthias Hartmann and Martin Kušej . In 1998 he wrote the play The Making Of for Bertolt Brecht's 100th birthday . B. movie for the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. In 2008 he published the first novel Zephyr .

Ostermaier has received numerous awards, including the Ernst Toller Prize , the Kleist Prize , the Bertolt Brecht Prize and the World Literature Prize . He was the artistic director of the poetry festival Lyrik am Lech and the literature festival ABC - Augsburg Brecht Connected . In 2015 he curated the forum: autoren under the title front: text as part of the Munich Literature Festival .

He is a member of the PEN Center Germany and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts .

Ostermaier is the goalkeeper of the German national team of authors , curator of the DFB cultural foundation and member of the German Academy for Football Culture .

Ostermaier works closely with the musicians and composers Hans Platzgumer and Bert Wrede .
