Albert Tepper

Albert Tepper (born June 1, 1921 in Manhattan , New York City , † June 8, 2010 in Glendale , California ) was an American composer and music teacher.

Tepper was a music professor at Hofstra University from 1952 until his retirement in 1987 . He taught music theory and composition here and founded the jazz history department at the university. He led various ensembles and the symphony orchestra at university performances, and was also the musical director of the drama department and composed music for more than 100 stage productions. In 1972 he was one of the five founding members of the Long Island Composers Alliance . Incidentally, Tepper mainly emerged as a composer of chamber music and songs. A collection of chamber music works has been recorded on CD by the American Chamber Ensemble .
