Albert Westerburg

Albert Daniel Ludwig Heinrich Lothar Westerburg (born March 27, 1846 in Kettenbach (Nassau), † July 3, 1903 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German politician, member of the Prussian mansion and Lord Mayor of the cities of Hanau and Kassel .

Life

Westerburg was born in Kettenbach (Nassau) in 1846 as the son of a pastor and, after graduating from high school, studied law and political science in Heidelberg , Leipzig and Berlin . From 1872 to 1873 he was a government assessor in the Ministry of Justice in Berlin, then until 1885 assistant and district judge in Brilon and Duisburg . He became a member of the Rhenish Landtag for Barmen-Elberfeld ( German Progressive Party ), city ​​councilor in Frankfurt am Main from 1885 to 1887 , and Lord Mayor of Hanau from 1887 to 1893 , where he had extensive sewage works carried out and the construction of the Hanau Main Harbor . On October 28, 1892, he was elected Lord Mayor of Kassel. He was introduced as head of the city of Kassel in February 1893. From 1893 to 1899 he was Lord Mayor of Kassel. In 1897 he was the first holder of the golden chain of office of the city of Kassel. From 1895 he was a member of the Prussian manor house. He was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Hesse-Nassau Province and from 1890 to 1900 a member of the Kassel Communal Parliament . As Lord Mayor he was restricted for health reasons at the end of his term of office from 1898. However, he remained nominally in office until 1899.
