Alberto Bernabé Pajares

Alberto Bernabé Pajares (born December 1, 1946 in Huelva ) is a Spanish classical philologist and religious historian , who is known for his work on the orphic and the epic of the archaic epoch . He is Emeritus Full Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid .

Bernabé has been Director of the Departamento de Filología Griega y Lingüística Indoeuropea of the Universidad Complutense since July 1, 2002 and President of the Centro de Estudios del Próximo Oriente since 2003 . Among other things, he was President of the Sociedad Española de Lingüística from 1998 to 2002 , whose journal Revista Española de Lingüística he has published since 1976. He was also an employee of the Diccionario Griego-Español . Bernabé has also worked on Indo-European linguistics (including a translation of Hittite literary texts ) and published a manual on textual criticism .
