Albo from Passau

Albo (* unknown; † after 1177 in Freising ; also Albono ) was the 28th bishop of Passau from 1165 to 1169 .

biography

Until his appointment as bishop, Albo was canon in Passau and provost in Moosburg .

With respect to the term of his Pope Schism he sought a middle position and received so neither of Archbishop Conrad of Salzburg even the Archbishop of Mainz , Christian I of book , the episcopal ordination . In 1169 he had to abdicate after a profound rift with the cathedral chapter and the citizens of Passau. He became a canon in Freising, where he died after 1177.
