Alec John Such (born November 14, 1951 in Yonkers , New York ) is an American bassist . He was a founding member of the rock band Bon Jovi in 1984 . In 1994 he left the band.

According to the band members Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora in an episode of the television series Behind the Music , the band split up due to insufficient performance at live concerts from Such. Another factor that contributed to his dismissal was said to have been the unsatisfactory quality of his work on the studio recordings for the album Cross Road .

Before joining Bon Jovi, Such played with Richie Sambora in the band Message . After leaving, he was a manager for various bands in New Jersey . He also owns a motorcycle dealership in New York City .

Such's post at Bon Jovi took on stage and in the studio Hugh McDonald , who had played on several of the band's releases. McDonald has been named as an "official" member of the band since 2016.
