Alessandro Barbero
Alessandro Barbero (born April 30, 1959 in Turin ) is an Italian historian and university professor .
biography
After attending school, he studied history at the University of Turin and graduated in 1981 with a thesis on the Middle Ages . He then completed postgraduate studies at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and in 1984, after winning a competition, took up a position as a researcher at the University of Tor Vergata .
In 1998 he became Associate Professor of Medieval History at the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy of the Università del Piemonte Orientale in Vercelli , before being appointed Full Professor there in 2004.
For his services he was awarded the Knight's Cross des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres .

Since 2007 he has also been a specialist in historical customs and costumes for the science show Superquark, which is broadcast on Radiotelevisione Italiana .
For his novel The beautiful life of the nobleman Robert Pyle and the wars of others ( Bella vita e guerre altrui di Mr. Pyle, gentiluomo ) he was awarded the Premio Strega in 1996.
