Alexander Waldhelm (born July 9, 1975 in Oberhausen ) is a German film director and screenwriter.

Life

Alexander Waldhelm is the son of a police officer and a florist. He graduated from high school in Mülheim an der Ruhr and studied media science and German at the Ruhr University in Bochum, completing a Bachelor of Arts . He then worked as a journalist, editor and copywriter. He works at Forschungszentrum Jülich . Waldhelm is married and has four children.

In 2013 he began working on the script for Pottkinder - a homeland film that he ultimately produced himself as a low-budget production . The premiere took place in 2017 in the Lichtburg in Essen. The film was then shown in around 25 cinemas throughout Germany - mainly in the Ruhr area, but also in Munich, Berlin, Münster and St. Peter-Ording.

In 2018, Waldhelm was one of five people involved in the creation of the music documentary Full Circle - Last Exit Rock 'n' Roll , which traces the life of the musician Andy Brings and was shown in cinemas across Germany.

In 2019 he shot the thriller Relationships - Not a Beautiful Country . The film will hit theaters in November 2020.
