Alexandre Gavras

Alexandre Gavras (born August 23, 1969 in Paris ) is a French film producer , film director , screenwriter and actor .

Life

Gavras is the son of the director Costa-Gavras and the film producer Michèle Ray-Gavras . He attended New York University film school . He started out in the film business in 1991 as a director of the short film The Plant . In 1998 the short film Tueur de petits poissons followed , which was nominated for a César as best short film. As an actor, Gavras was mainly seen in supporting roles, so he portrayed an inspector in The Colonel and I.

The short film Avant que de tout perdre, which he produced by director Xavier Legrand , was nominated for the Oscar for Best Short Film at the 2014 Academy Awards. Gavras also won the César for Best Short Film with director Legrand . Gavras also acted as producer on Legrand's debut feature film After the Judgment , which was based on Avant que de tout perdre . For After the Judgment , he won his second César, this time in the Best Picture category .
