Alexandros Vasilakis ( Greek Αλέξανδρος Βασιλάκης , born August 8, 1979 in Corfu ) is a Greek handball player who has been playing for the Luxembourg club HB Esch since 2016 .

Career

Alexandros Vasilakis played at Doukas Athens in his home country. In 2003 he moved to Germany for the Bundesliga club Wilhelmshavener HV . In 2005 he joined the HSG Düsseldorf ; there he was the best field scorer in the Bundesliga in the 2006/07 season with 206 goals. After the 2.00 meter tall backcourt player ran for the SC Magdeburg Gladiators from 2007 to 2009 , he moved to MT Melsungen . When Vasilakis was released there in March 2013, he joined the French club Fenix ​​Toulouse Handball . In June 2013 he signed a contract with league rivals Pays d'Aix UC . From there he moved to the Qatari club al-Quiyada in February 2014. In September 2014 he returned to Germany and signed a contract with HBW Balingen-Weilstetten until the end of the 2014/15 season. In summer 2016 he joined the Luxembourg club HB Esch . With HB Esch he won both the Luxembourg Championship and the Luxembourg Cup in 2017 and 2019.

Vasilakis also plays for the Greek national handball team . With the Greek team, he finished sixth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens .

With 1,407 goals, Vasilakis is one of the top 30 goal scorers in Bundesliga history .
