Alexei Michailowitsch Bassow Russian Алексей Михайлович Басов (English transcription: Aleksey Basov , also Alexey Basov ) (born April 22, 1977 in Mytishchi , Moscow Oblast ) is a Russian racing car driver .

Career in motorsport

Alexei Bassow began his career in the Russian Lada Cup , which he finished third overall in 2005. In 2007 he won the overall ranking of the Russian touring car series and in the same year the production car class of the European Touring Car Cup .

In 2009, Bassow was touring car champion in Ukraine and moved to Italy in the early 2010s to compete in touring and GT cars . In 2012 he won the overall ranking of the European Ferrari Challenge . He celebrated his greatest success so far in the FIA World Endurance Championship , where he won the final of the LMGTE standings in 2015 . He was also able to win this racing class at the 2015 Le Mans 24-hour race . In doing so, however, he benefited from the late failure of Paul Dalla Lana in the Aston Martin Vantage GTE .
