Alfred Pfänder

Alfred Pfänder (born January 23, 1920 ; † 1941 ), also called "Pipo", was a German football player.

Career

Pledges, described by large and powerful build, belonged from 1937 bis 1941 the 1. FC Nuremberg as a midfielder on for which he in Gauliga Bayern , in one of initially 16 and later spiked to 23 Gauligen the era of National Socialism as a uniform top flight in the German Reich , played point games.

During his club membership - he played a total of 222 competitive games - he won the Gaume Championship twice and the Tschammer Cup once with the club . Because of the two Gaume Championships, he also took part in the subsequent finals for the German Championship. First he played four of six games in Group D in the 1937/38 season and failed with his team in second place at the eventual German champions Hannover 96 , who won all games in the group. In the 1940/41 season he played all six games in Group 4 , with him getting four goals alone in the penultimate on June 23, 1940 in the Nuremberg Municipal Stadium in the 8-0 win over Kickers Offenbach ; three of them as a flawless hat trick within 13 minutes to 3-0.

In the Tschammer Cup competition, he played a total of 21 games in four consecutive years and scored seven goals. At its premiere in 1938 , it first reached the semi-finals , which were lost 2-0 to SK Rapid Wien on December 11th, and finally the final in Berlin on April 28th, 1940 in 1939 , which was won 2-0 against SV Waldhof Mannheim . In 1940 he reached the final again , but this time with 1: 2 n. V. against Dresdner SC - with the later national coach Helmut Schön - was lost. He played his last cup game on August 24, 1941 in the 1: 4 knockout round defeat at the Stuttgarter Kickers .

Pfänder, who was considered a great talent, was reported missing in 1941 during the German-Soviet War ; a 1944 military post letter was the last sign of life from him.
