Alfred Weil

Alfred Weil (born February 16, 1951 in Mörfelden ) is a German Buddhist. He was chairman of the German Buddhist Union .

He studied education , politics and psychology in Marburg and Frankfurt am Main . After the diploma (focus on adult education) and the doctorate to Dr. phil. he initially worked full-time as a political consultant for many years. From 1973 he made various trips, mainly to Southeast Asia . It was there that his first encounter with Buddhism took place. The systematic discussion began in 1979, especially with the Theravada . In Germany, Paul Debes and Ayya ​​Khema became his most important teachers. Since 1984 he has given lectures and seminars on Buddhist topics. He was chairman of the German Buddhist Union (DBU) from 1993 to 2001, a member of the editorial team of the “Lotus Blätter” from 1990 to 2002 and has been an honorary councilor of the DBU since 2003, as well as a member of the Round Table of Religions since 1998.

He has published numerous articles in magazines and is the author and editor of several books.
