Algérie Presse Service ( Arabic وكالة الأنباء الجزائرية, Central Atlas Tamazight ⵜⴰⵡⴰⴽⵍⴰ ⵉⵙⴰⵍⵏ ⵏ ⵍⵣⴰⵢⵔ Tawakla Isalen n Lezayer ) is the state news agency of Algeria .
It is headquartered in the state capital, Algiers .
APS was founded on December 1st, 1961 after Algeria had become independent in the course of decolonization (see also Decolonization of Africa ) after the end of the Algerian War.
APS has been a regular supplier to the world's major news agencies since 1963.
In 1998 APS launched its website.
APS has four regional offices in Algeria:
- Constantine ("East") for the provinces of Constantine, Batna, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Souk Ahras, El Tarf, Mila, Khenchela, Biskra, Guelma, Setif, M'sila and Bordj Bou Arreridj
- Oran ("West") for the provinces of Oran , Tlemcen, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Ain Temouchent, Relizane, Mascara and Chlef
- Ouargla ("South") for the provinces of Ouargla, Adrar, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Tindouf, Naama, Laghouat, Bechar, Ghardaia, El Oued and El Bayadh
- Blida ("central") for the provinces of Blida , Tipaza , Boumerdes , Tizi-Ouzou , Bejaia , Bouira , Djelfa , Ain Defla and Medea .
APS has 12 representative offices abroad: Washington, Moscow, Paris, London, Brussels, Rome, Madrid , Cairo , Rabat , Tunis , Amman and Dakar .
