Alhambra is a city in the US state of California . It is located in the geographic center of Los Angeles County in Southern California and has a population of around 89,000. The urban area covers an area of 19.7 km².
By Interstate 710 and the San Bernardino Freeway is a close transport links to Los Angeles and other cities in the region and further into the Californian hinterland.
Demographics
According to the 2010 census , there were 83,089 people in the Alhambra. The population has decreased by around 2000 since the 2000 census .
Alhambra is one of the cities with the largest proportion of Asians in the USA. Their share in 2010 was around 52 percent. The second largest population group are Latinos , who make up around 34 percent. Whites of European descent, who otherwise make up the majority of the US population, only make up ten percent of the urban population. Other ethnic groups such as African Americans are minorities.
The number of households was 29,217 according to the 2010 census. In terms of the gender distribution, it is noticeable that women are much more represented in the population. For every 100 women there were 97.2 men. The median age of the residents of Alhambra is 39.3 years, which is slightly higher than in most other cities in California.
