use

Table salt

A special and important type of alkali salt are their halides , the most important representative of which is sodium chloride ( table salt , evaporated salt ).

Galenics

In galenics , acidic medicinal products are often converted into alkali salts, as these are more stable or more soluble in water than the corresponding carboxylic acids, sulfonic acids or phosphonic acids.

Soap

Alkali salts of fatty acids are of practical importance as soap in everyday life, e.g. B. sodium stearate .

Manufacture of alkali metals

The naturally occurring alkali salts form the starting materials for the production of pure alkali metals.
