The seldom used term Allbuch means a reference work that offers both linguistic and factual information on its keywords.

term

In French, the term "dictionaire" refers to lexicons that contain both language and subject entries. There are seldom such lexicons in German. The term all book should contain both types of lexica. But the term is not widely known even in “dictionary research”. The linguist Werner Hupka refers to a few finds of this term. So it is an education from the time of National Socialism. In the four-volume New Brockhaus , which was newly published in 1936 , the subtitle was "All book in four volumes ..." Outside of this time he rarely appears. The new Brockhaus in 5 volumes, 3rd edition 1958 called itself "Lexicon and language dictionary". Werner Hupka therefore speaks out against the use of the term "Allbuch". The historian and journalist Bodo Mrozek cites it in his list of "threatened words" as a word for reference work that was still proven in the 1950s. However, he considers it to be a “failed Germanization of the Greek word” lexicon
