The Allgemeine Deutsche Zeitung für Romania ( ADZ ) is a daily newspaper for the German-speaking minority in Romania . It has been published since 1993. In the second half of 1992, the editorial team of the previous newspaper “ Neuer Weg ” (1949–1992) decided to start over and redesign the paper in terms of graphics and content. The newspaper reports on politics, economy as well as culture and local issues. She does not only address problems of the German minority in Romania, but also national and world politics.

It is the only German daily newspaper in Southeast Europe. This makes the newspaper interesting for German-speaking vacationers, business travelers and entrepreneurs of German origin who live in Romania. The editorial office is in the Romanian capital, Bucharest . The newspaper also has correspondent offices in Sibiu , Kronstadt , Reschitza , Sathmar and Timișoara .

Weekly supplements of the ADZ are the Banater Zeitung of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania for Timișoara, Arad and the Banater Bergland, as well as the Karpatenrundschau of the Foundation for the Promotion of German Literature in Romania in Kronstadt.

In 2006 the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (DFDR) took over the publishing of the newspaper. The ADZ is financed by the DFDR with funds from the Romanian state. At the beginning of 2007 the presentation was refreshed again, almost all pages were now designed in color. On July 31, 2008, the ADZ was to be converted into a weekly newspaper. The chairman of the DFDR at the time, Klaus Johannis, secured the continued publication as a daily newspaper with a “word of power”, according to the Siebenbürgische Zeitung .
