Alma Seidler Ring

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alma-Seidler-Ring was donated by the Austrian government in 1978 as a female counterpart to the traditional Iffland-Ring . Like its role model, this one will also be passed on to the most important and worthy stage artist in German-speaking theater for life by its bearer.

The award was named after the castle actress Alma Seidler (1899–1977). According to the widow of Werner Krauss , the bearer of the Iffland Ring, who died in 1959, she would have received the ring had a woman not been excluded from the start by tradition.
