The América Futebol Clube , AFC or América-SC for short , is a Brazilian football club from Joinville in the state of Santa Catarina . The club has adapted the name, emblem and colors of America FC from Rio de Janeiro .
history
The association was founded in a cinema opposite the São Francisco Xavier Cathedral on Rua do Príncipe. In 1942, as host in Joinville, he played the first international match in Santa Catarina against Club Libertad from Paraguay , which he lost 6-1. For the 35th anniversary, the AFC received SK Rapid Wien for a friendly game on July 17, 1949 and thus played the first game against a European club in Santa Catarina, which it also lost 3-5.
After winning the fifth national championship in 1971, the club struggled with economic problems that resulted in difficulties in licensing. The situation culminated in 1976 in the merger of his professional football department with that of the also ailing local rival Caxias FC to found the Joinville Esporte Clube , the leading club in Joinville today. América FC only returned to football in the mid-1980s with a newly formed amateur team and is now one of the established amateur teams in Joinville.
