Pelkey has been a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team since 2014 and is a multiple world and Olympic champion.

Career

Pelkey played for the North American Hockey Academy in Stowe , Vermont , during her high school years . During this time until 2011, the striker took part in the U18 World Junior Championship three times in 2009 , 2010 and 2011 . She won the gold medal in 2009 and 2011 and a silver medal in 2010.

After graduating from high school, Pelkey moved to the University of Vermont for the 2011-12 school year . In addition to her studies, she played the following four years for the ice hockey program of the university in the Hockey East , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Although the winger was not particularly successful with the team, she still managed to make her debut in the women's national ice hockey team of the United States with her performances in the 4 Nations Cup 2014 . At the end of the 2014/15 school year, Pelkey finished her studies and switched to the newly founded National Women's Hockey League , where she went on to hunt for goals for the Boston Pride . At the end of the 2015/16 season she won the Isobel Cup , the championship trophy of the NWHL, which was played for the first time with the Pride . In addition, she took part with the national team in the 2016 World Cup, which, like the 2017 world title bouts , she was able to conclude by winning the world championship title the following year.

The offensive player then turned her back on Pride and the NWHL after two seasons and left the US hockey association USA Hockey for the 2017/18 season. In the association, she prepared for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , where she won Olympic gold with the Americans.
