American Historical Association

The American Historical Association ( AHA ), based in Washington, DC, is a scientific society founded in the United States in 1884 that promotes research and teaching in the field of history . The 14,000 members of this organization include professors, historians , teachers and students. The AHA, as a national specialist society, must be distinguished from the Organization of American Historians , which brings together historians who conduct research on the United States.

The AHA was recognized as a corporation by resolution of the US Congress of January 4, 1889 and published and published. a. The American Historical Review , a historical journal. The AHA has held annual meetings in uninterrupted order since 1886.
