The American Society for Quality , abbreviated ASQ , ( German "American Society for Quality"), is a global knowledge-based community of quality experts, which has almost 80,000 members. It is responsible for promoting and developing quality tools, principles and procedures. The organization is also known as the American Society for Quality Control ( ASQC ).

history

ASQ was founded in Milwaukee , Wisconsin in 1946 . It began towards the end of World War II when quality experts and manufacturers looked for ways to maintain the many advances in quality.

In the 1970s, manufacturing and other industrial processes were significantly influenced by the principles of quality. The focus was on finding out how products and services can meet technical requirements.
Today the ASQ is a global organization with members in more than 150 countries. The organization has service centers in Mexico, China and India and has alliances with numerous organizations in countries such as Brazil and the United Emirates that promote ASQ products and training. The UAE branch serves countries in central east and north Africa.

quality

The ASQ offers its members certification, training, publications, conferences and other services. ASQ has established partnerships with non-profit organizations around the world, which have similar goals and principles to their own, in order to better meet the quality needs of companies, organizations and individuals. The American Society for Quality is a founding partner of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI), an economic indicator .

Since 1989, the ASQ has awarded the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award (MBNQA), a national quality award introduced by law in 1987 by the American Congress. The ASQ also awards the Dorian Shainin Medal. In order to solve the problems related to the quality of products and services, many approaches are made every year by different companies. The development and application of unique and statistically favorable approaches is awarded this medal annually.

Here is a list of people who have received the Shainin Medal:

  2. Strive to improve the skills and reputation of quality-related professions
  3. To be able to use one's own knowledge and skills to expand the well-being of other people

Certifications

ASQ offers professional certifications in relation to different aspects of quality services.

Every year, exams are taken nationwide and, to a limited extent, worldwide. They take place several times a year. Each certification is maintained almost every year using a rotating schedule and cross-appraisal. The first certification was offered in 1968.
